The All Progressives Congress (APC) has won the Dawakin Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency by-election in Kano State, with its candidate, Rabiu Shuaibu, recording a resounding victory at the polls.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Shuaibu the winner of the Saturday by-election after he polled 35,356 votes to defeat his opponents by a wide margin.

Announcing the results at the INEC collation centre in Dawakin Kudu, the Returning Officer, Professor Umar Sani, said the candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Lawal Garba-Haruna, secured 268 votes, while Abubakar Yahaya-Muhammad of the Labour Party (LP) garnered 98 votes.

Professor Sani stated that having satisfied the requirements of the law and secured the highest number of valid votes cast, Rabiu Shuaibu was duly elected to represent the Dawakin Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

The by-election was conducted to fill the vacancy created by the death of the former lawmaker representing the constituency, Muhammad Danjuma-Hassan of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

The election was generally peaceful, with electoral officials and security personnel maintaining order across polling units in Dawakin Kudu and Warawa Local Government Areas.
