Augustine Eguavoen has stepped down as the interim coach of the Nigerian national football team, the Super Eagles.
Eguavoen announced this on Tuesday immediately after he led the team to a convincing draw in a match against Rwanda, OwnGoal reports.
He said: “I was appointed interim coach a few days ago after Bruno Labbadia rejected his appointment with the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF).
Eguavoen won his first match 3-0 against the Benin Republic in Uyo.
According to Eguavoen, his decision was because he was only engaged for two matches.
“I have been given a mandate to handle two games. I want to say I am very pleased with the boys and again thanks to the NFF leadership and all the boys supported me in discipline and working hard,” OwnGoal quoted.
