FUDMA Shuts Down Campus

News Desk

The management of the Federal University Dutsinma (FUDMA) in Katsina state has ordered the immediate closure of the institution following violent protests by students over the alleged killing of one of their colleagues.

An investigation by The Nation revealed that two students were reportedly shot by members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), resulting in the death of one of them.

According to a source, “Some CJTF officials mistakenly shot the students, thinking they were bandits, leading to the tragic loss of one.”

The incident sparked outrage among students, who took to the streets of Dutsinma, vandalizing properties in protest.

In response, the FUDMA Senate announced the immediate shutdown of the school and directed students to embark on a one-week mid-semester break, effective Monday, February 24, 2025.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Armaya’u Hamisu Bichi, who conveyed the Senate’s decision, urged students to vacate the campus by 6:00 pm on Monday.

“The management wishes the students a happy and peaceful mid-semester break,” he stated.
