The Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District, Senator Adetokunbo Abiru, has commissioned the 4.6-kilometre Takatuku-Dandamu rural road constructed by the Ahmed Aliyu-led administration under a partnership with the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP).
A statement by Abubakar Bawa, the Director General, Media and Publicity, Government House, Sokoto, disclosed on Friday
Speaking shortly after the commissioning, Senator Abiru commended Governor Ahmed Aliyu for his prudent management of the state’s resources.
He said it is only through prudent management of resources that a government can execute laudable projects that positively impact the lives of the people.
According to him, road projects play a significant role in boosting the socio-economic development of rural communities.
“The Takatuku-Dandamu road is a road of hope and economic prosperity, as it links farmers to markets, children to schools, patients to healthcare facilities, and promotes business growth,” he said.
“Today, our gathering goes beyond the commissioning of a road. We are here to celebrate vision translated into reality, promises transformed into tangible outcomes, and leadership measured by impact.”
He further commended Governor Ahmed Aliyu for his achievements in healthcare, education, infrastructure, agriculture, water supply, housing, and security.
Senator Abiru also praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which he said is aimed at repositioning the nation’s economy for sustainable growth, strengthening fiscal federalism, and enhancing the financial capacity of states through increased allocations and improved revenue generation.
He noted that initiatives such as RAAMP have been made possible through these reforms.
He therefore called on the people of Sokoto State to continue supporting the APC administrations at both the state and federal levels in order to enjoy more dividends of democracy.
“Let us rally behind our President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, His Excellency Governor Ahmed Aliyu, and our party leaders. Let us support their re-election for a second term so that the good work already begun can be consolidated and expanded,” Abiru added.
Also speaking, Governor Ahmed Aliyu directed the immediate asphalt overlay of the Takatuku-Dandamu road.
He said the project is in line with his administration’s nine-point Smart Innovative Agenda, which seeks to promote sustainable economic growth, agricultural development, and improved infrastructure.
“Since we came on board, we have, under this collaboration with RAAMP, successfully completed and commissioned rural roads in Binji and Silame Local Government Areas of the state, while a number of similar rural roads have been completed and are awaiting commissioning,” he added.
The Governor called on the benefiting communities to safeguard the road against all forms of vandalism.
“You must bear in mind that this project was funded with taxpayers’ money; therefore, it must be protected,” Aliyu warned.
He assured the people of the state that his administration would continue to execute road projects aimed at opening up rural communities and stimulating economic growth across the state.
Earlier, the Special Adviser on Rural Roads, Malami Muhammad Galadanci, commended Governor Ahmed Aliyu for ensuring the timely funding of road projects under his department.
Also speaking, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, represented by Sarkin Kabin Yabo, Muhammad Sani Bello Yabo, appreciated Governor Ahmed Aliyu’s transformative initiatives across the state and urged him to sustain the momentum.
During the commissioning ceremony, some prominent politicians from Bodinga Local Government Area announced their defection from the ADC and PDP to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
The Minister of Labour and Employment, Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi, the Speaker of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Tukur Bala Bodinga, the Secretary to the State Government, Muhammad Bello Sifawa, and the member representing Dange-Shuni, Tureta and Bodinga Federal Constituency, Nasiru Shehu, presented the defectors to the State APC Chairman, Haruna Adiya.
The chairman assured the new entrants of equal treatment and opportunities within the party.
