The Director-General of the National Productivity Centre (NPC), Hon. Dr. Baffa Babba Dan’agundi, has presided over the graduation of participants in a specialized solar technology training program held in Kano State.
A statement on Monday by Aminu Abba Kwaru, Office of the Director General, National Productivity Centre, said the intensive program equipped beneficiaries with skills in solar fabrication, installation, maintenance, and system management, an effort aimed at expanding technical capacity and boosting energy-related competencies among young Nigerians.
The initiative was implemented through a partnership between the NPC and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
It forms part of a broader strategy to provide young people with practical, income-generating skills that enhance self-reliance.
The collaboration follows Dr. Dan’agundi’s recent visit to South Africa, where he attended the Japan-sponsored World National Productivity Conference and reinforced NPC’s relationship with JICA, paving the way for further joint projects, including in the agricultural sector.
A major highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of solar repair and installation toolkits to all participants.
According to the NPC, the toolkits are intended to enable immediate deployment of their new skills, allowing them to start service operations and integrate fully into the renewable energy sector.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Dan’agundi commended partners for the smooth execution of the program and reiterated the Centre’s commitment to initiatives that enhance productivity and improve youth livelihoods.
He noted that the NPC remains focused on building a skilled workforce capable of driving national development through innovation and self-sufficiency.
The event was coordinated by the Office of the Director-General, National Productivity Centre.
