Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has frowned upon the level of encroachment on landed property owned by the State government.
Governor Alia, who spoke to journalists after inspecting ongoing reconstruction at the commissioners’ quarters in Makurdi, said his administration is committed to fully utilising all government-owned properties and will not tolerate any form of encroachment on state assets.
He expressed total satisfaction with the level and quality of work done so far, and charged the contractor to speed up the work, reiterating his willingness to guarantee quality and spacious accommodations to top government functionaries within a short time possible.
Governor Alia who directed the Benue State Ministry of Works and Housing to ensure that all government properties are safeguarded, said his administration is strategizing plans to enable civil servants to prepare well for their retirement while in office.
He hinted at the plan to construct additional housing units within the quarters to accommodate more workers and cushion the housing deficit in the state.
