The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has constituted its National Campaign Council for the 2027 general elections, naming former Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Seriake Dickson, as chairman.

The party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, was named co-chairman, while his running mate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, will serve as co-vice chairman of the campaign council.

The list, released on Sunday, also named Senator Cleopas Zuwoghe as vice chairman, while the party’s National Secretary, Ikenna Enekweizu, was designated council secretary.

Ibrahim Abdulkarim was named Director-General of the Presidential Campaign, while the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, will serve as Director of Communication and Media.

Former defence spokesperson, Major General John Enenche (retd.), was appointed Director of Security and Intelligence.

Other members of the campaign council include former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, who will serve on the National Campaign Advisory Council, as well as Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, Senator Victor Umeh, Buba Galadima, Yakubu Ochefu, Mahmud Jahun, Moshood Salvador, Babatunde Alli, Sidi Abdul, Victor Ogene, Mrs Dudu Manuga and Muktar Usman.

The party also announced a 40-member National Campaign Advisory Council and the appointment of 37 state campaign coordinators to coordinate activities across the country.

In a statement published on its official X account, the NDC said the campaign council would provide strategic leadership, coordinate campaign activities nationwide and mobilise support for its vision of a “new, just, and prosperous Nigeria.”

The party said the council would work under Dickson’s chairmanship, with Obi and Kwankwaso serving in their designated leadership positions, to deliver what it described as a people-centred and issue-based campaign.

It urged party members, supporters and Nigerians to remain united and focused as it prepares for the 2027 general elections.

“We call on all party members, supporters, and well-meaning Nigerians to remain united and focused as we work together to rescue our country,” the statement said.
