The Yobe State Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr. Mohammed Lawan Gana, has revealed that the Mamman B. Ali Maternal and Child Health Centre at the Yobe State Teaching Hospital, Damaturu, recorded more than 3,000 safe deliveries within its first year of operation.

Dr. Gana disclosed this during an inspection visit to the facility by the Acting Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Mohammed Goje, as part of activities commemorating the seventh anniversary of Governor Mai Mala Buni’s administration.

He described the achievement as a major milestone in the state’s healthcare sector, noting that the centre has emerged as a critical referral facility for maternal and child health services across Yobe State.

According to the commissioner, the centre is staffed by over 20 consultant specialists and a team of highly trained healthcare professionals committed to providing quality medical care to women and children.

“The Mamman B. Ali Maternal and Child Health Centre has successfully handled more than 3,000 deliveries within one year and continues to offer specialised healthcare services through a dedicated team of consultants and medical personnel,” Dr. Gana said.

He explained that the facility was established to improve access to quality maternal and child healthcare, reduce maternal and infant mortality rates, and strengthen the overall healthcare delivery system in the state.

Dr. Gana added that the state government remains committed to investing in healthcare infrastructure and services to ensure better health outcomes for residents.
