Fire outbreaks at a power transmission plant in Dan Agundi and a paint manufacturing company in Kwakwaci, Kano State, have destroyed property and affected two people.

The Kano State Fire Service disclosed this in a statement signed by its spokesperson, ACFO Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, on Tuesday.

The first incident occurred on Monday at a power transmission plant in Dan Agundi, Kano Municipal Local Government Area.

According to the Fire Service, an open area measuring about 200 by 100 feet was engulfed by flames, with one electric transformer affected.

Firefighters deployed two fire jets from Commando 1 and Commando 1B and successfully contained the blaze before it spread to other parts of the facility.

The second incident occurred on Tuesday at NUTAK Universal Company Ltd., Kwakwaci, in Fagge Local Government Area.

The fire, which affected a ground-floor building measuring about 50 by 100 feet, destroyed a toilet, 25 drums of chemicals, 600 four-litre paint containers, 10 production machines and three underground paint storage facilities.

One store was also slightly affected.

The Fire Service said two people were affected before firefighters arrived, but both victims were rescued alive.

The causes of the two incidents are yet to be established and are currently under investigation.

The Fire Service urged residents, particularly operators of industrial facilities and those handling flammable materials, to observe necessary fire-safety precautions and promptly report emergencies.
