Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has approved a N150,000 Christmas bonus for all civil servants in the state as a goodwill gesture for the 2025 festive season.
The announcement was made on Sunday during a church service at the Government House Chapel in Abakaliki and was later confirmed by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Monday Uzor.
Governor Nwifuru said the bonus reflects his administration’s continued commitment to the welfare of civil servants despite the recent decline in state revenue.
“The N150,000 Christmas bonus is a symbol of our dedication to our hardworking civil servants,” the governor stated. “We are doing this not because of abundant resources, but because we believe in leaving a positive legacy for our people.”
The governor also addressed public concerns over the Vincent Agwu Nwankwo Flyover, assuring residents that the major infrastructure project is progressing according to plan. He dismissed reports on social media suggesting delays, describing them as unfounded.
According to him, the flyover is one of the largest infrastructure projects currently underway in the country and will significantly enhance the state’s outlook and road network upon completion.
Governor Nwifuru further highlighted the recent N20,000 increase in the minimum wage for Ebonyi civil servants, which took effect in August and raised the minimum salary to N90,000.
He noted that the bonus, wage increase, and ongoing infrastructure development align with his administration’s vision of positioning Ebonyi State as a model of good governance, modern infrastructure, and sustainable development.
