Two Fake Civil Defenders in NSCDC Net

Two suspects, Muhammad Sarari, a resident of Goron Dutse in Dala, and Madaki Zaharaddeen of Hotoro quarters in Nassarawa local government areas been arrested by operatives of Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Kano command.

A statement, on Monday, by the Corps spokesperson, SC Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, said the suspects were parading themselves as civil defense staff.

According to Abdullahi, they used to storm some ministries and agencies of government in Kano intimidating top government officials and extorting money.

He said luck ran out of them when they walked into the premises of a renowned television station in the state and intimidated and threatened a top management staff of the media house in exchange for cash.

“They were caught by NSCDC personnel of Tarauni Divisional Office and brought to the state headquarters for interrogation.

“Upon investigation, the duo confessed to the crime, and one of the suspects was found in possession of fake identity cards of the NSCDC and an inner wear bearing the service logo.

“The investigation has been concluded, they will be charged with personation of public servant, conspiracy, intimidation, and extortion.”
