Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas, on Monday commissioned a N3.7 billion road project in Sokoto State, praising Governor Ahmed Aliyu for what he described as a remarkable commitment to infrastructure development and people-oriented governance.

The project, located in the Buzaye area of Sokoto metropolis, forms part of the Sokoto State Government’s ongoing urban renewal programme aimed at improving transportation, boosting economic activities and enhancing the quality of life of residents.

Dr. Kefas, who visited Sokoto at the invitation of Governor Aliyu to inaugurate completed projects, described the trip as a homecoming, citing the longstanding historical, cultural and social bonds between Sokoto and Taraba states.

He commended the Sokoto governor for investing heavily in critical infrastructure, noting that road construction remains one of the most effective tools for stimulating economic growth and expanding opportunities for citizens.

“I am very happy to be here. I have seen what my colleague is doing and I am highly impressed,” Kefas said while addressing residents and government officials at the commissioning ceremony.

The Taraba governor noted that the visible transformation taking place across Sokoto reflects purposeful leadership and a determination to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people.

According to him, Governor Aliyu has demonstrated a strong commitment to improving public welfare through strategic projects designed to address developmental challenges and support sustainable growth.

Kefas expressed confidence that the administration would continue to implement programmes capable of strengthening security, creating opportunities and improving the overall well-being of residents.

He urged the people of Sokoto State to continue supporting government initiatives, stressing that development flourishes where there is peace, unity and cooperation among citizens and leaders.

The governor also advocated stronger collaboration among state governments across the federation, arguing that collective efforts and partnerships among leaders are essential for addressing national challenges and accelerating development.

“Whenever leaders work together and share ideas, they are better positioned to solve the problems facing their people. Unity and cooperation will always produce greater benefits for citizens and strengthen national progress,” he said.

In his remarks, Governor Ahmed Aliyu disclosed that the newly completed Buzaye Road Network consists of Argungu Road, Gobir Road, Lanzu Road and other connecting routes designed to improve mobility and accessibility within the area.

He explained that the project aligns with his administration’s vision of modernising Sokoto through the provision of critical infrastructure capable of supporting commerce, improving public services and enhancing urban development.

“Road infrastructure remains one of the most critical foundations for sustainable socio-economic development. It facilitates the movement of people and goods, improves access to healthcare, education and markets, and stimulates economic growth,” Aliyu stated.

The governor added that the road network would significantly ease transportation challenges, strengthen commercial activities, improve security and provide better access to residential communities and public institutions.

Aliyu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive development across all parts of the state, describing infrastructure investment as a catalyst for economic prosperity, social progress and long term development.

He also appreciated the Ministry of Lands and Housing, contractors, consultants, engineers and community members for their contributions to the successful completion of the project, while commending President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for ongoing infrastructure investments aimed at driving national development.
