Sokoto State Government has announced plans to rehabilitate the dilapidated Layin Gidan Bello Dan Baba Road in Waziri C Ward of Sokoto North Local Government Area.
Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto announced this on Saturday evening during a condolence visit to the family of the late Islamic poet, Musa Mai Akwai Gidadawa, as part of his visits to bereaved families across the Sokoto metropolis.
He expressed concern over the poor condition of the road, assuring residents that his administration would take steps to address the situation.
Governor Aliyu said the road was important to the socioeconomic activities of residents in the area, making its rehabilitation necessary.
“I have seen the deplorable condition of this road and, frankly speaking, I am touched by what I saw,” the governor said.
He added that the government would soon deploy engineers to assess the road and recommend appropriate intervention.
“I assure you that we will soon send a team of engineers to assess the condition of the road and advise the government on the appropriate action to take,” he said.
The governor explained that his condolence visits had enabled him to obtain first-hand information about challenges facing communities across the state.
“We have, through these condolence visits, identified many challenges confronting communities, some of which we have since addressed,” Governor Aliyu said.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of residents through people-oriented projects and interventions.
The Governor also solicited the continued support and cooperation of the people of Sokoto State towards achieving the administration’s development objectives.
