Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has relaxed the curfew imposed in Minna, the state capital, effective Monday, 21 September 2026.
He gave the directive shortly after attending a three-day special prayer organized for the 37 artisanal miners who lost their lives while in the custody of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in the state.
According to a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Bologi Ibrahim, the decision followed the prayers and reflects the government’s efforts to restore normalcy in the state capital.
Bago appealed to residents of Niger State to remain law-abiding and conduct themselves responsibly as the government continues to explore measures to improve their wellbeing.
The Governor also urged residents to support efforts aimed at maintaining peace and stability across the state.
