The Kano State Ministry for Public Procurement, Projects Monitoring and Evaluation (MPPPME) and the State Ministry of Health have held a high-level bilateral engagement aimed at deepening institutional collaboration to improve efficiency, transparency, and overall service delivery within the health sector.

Senior officials and key procurement stakeholders from both ministries brought together to review existing procurement processes, strengthen coordination mechanisms, and reinforce compliance with due process in the management of public resources allocated to healthcare delivery.

In his remarks, the Commissioner, MPPPME, Kano State, Comrade Nura Ma’aji Sumaila, emphasized that effective procurement systems remain a critical driver of quality healthcare outcomes.

He noted that the timely procurement and distribution of essential drugs, medical equipment, and other health commodities are central to improving patient care and strengthening health service delivery across the state.

He further underscored the need for stronger inter-ministerial collaboration to eliminate bottlenecks that often delay procurement processes, stressing that accountability, transparency, and value-for-money principles must remain at the core of all government procurement activities.

Also speaking, the Commissioner, Kano State Ministry of Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran, reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to working closely with MPPPME and other relevant stakeholders to enhance service delivery in the health sector.

Dr. Labaran noted that improved coordination in procurement planning and execution would significantly strengthen the capacity of health facilities across the state to respond effectively to public health needs.

Discussions at the meeting highlighted key challenges affecting procurement implementation, including procedural delays, documentation gaps, and coordination constraints.

Participants collectively proposed practical solutions to streamline processes, improve communication between MDAs, and ensure faster delivery of critical health commodities.

Both ministries reiterated their shared commitment to building a more efficient, transparent, and responsive procurement system that supports the delivery of quality healthcare services to the people of Kano State.
