Nigeria’s crude oil and condensate production rose to 1,677,777 barrels per day (bpd) in August 2026, representing a 0.4 per cent increase from the previous month.

The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) disclosed this on Sunday, noting that crude oil production alone stood at 1,500,190 bpd, excluding condensates.

The commission said Nigeria met its Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) quota for the fourth consecutive month.

During the month under review, daily crude oil and condensate production ranged from a low of 1.64 million barrels per day to a high of 1.71 million bpd.

A breakdown of production by terminals and streams showed that Bonny Terminal recorded the highest average output at 320.04 thousand barrels per day (kbpd), followed by Forcados Terminal with 317.40 kbpd.

Qua Iboe Terminal produced an average of 171.72 kbpd, while Escravos Oil Terminal recorded 131.71 kbpd. Bonga ranked fifth with an average output of 92.50 kbpd of crude oil.

The NUPRC attributed the modest increase mainly to resolving operational challenges affecting the Single Buoy Mooring (SBM) at the Erha field, which had negatively impacted output in July.

In a statement issued by its spokesperson, Eniola Akinkuotu, the commission said restoring normal evacuation and production operations at the asset contributed positively to overall production during the month.

It added that production activities across most other assets remained relatively stable, as operators continued measures to improve efficiency, maintain asset integrity and minimize operational disruptions.

The commission said routine production and crude evacuation operations were generally sustained across the industry, supporting the increase in output.

According to the NUPRC, although the August growth was modest, it reflected ongoing efforts by industry stakeholders to address operational bottlenecks and restore affected production capacity.

It said stakeholders remained focused on improving asset reliability and operational resilience while advancing intervention programs aimed at sustaining production growth in the coming months.
