Key education stakeholders from Kano and Jigawa States have validated and endorsed the Level 3 Scripted Lesson Plans and Learning Materials developed under the Accelerated Basic Education Program (ABEP) during a one-day workshop jointly organized by Save the Children International and Plan International with funding support from the European Union.

The validation workshop, held at Tahir Guest Palace, brought together curriculum experts, education administrators, development partners, disability inclusion specialists, master trainers, and other stakeholders from both states to review instructional materials developed for Basic Science & Technology, Hausa, and Nigerian History & Values under the ABEP framework.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Stephen Sawa, State Team Lead of Save the Children International, commended the commitment of Kano and Jigawa States toward improving access to quality and inclusive education for out-of-school children.

He emphasized the importance of mobilizing local support from philanthropists, private sector organizations, and communities to sustain education interventions and reduce dependence on external funding.

Presentations during the workshop highlighted the objectives of ABEP and the participatory process used in developing the scripted lesson plans.

Stakeholders reviewed the materials for curriculum alignment, learner-centered methodologies, gender responsiveness, disability inclusion, language simplicity, and assessment mechanisms.

The workshop observed that the lesson plans are highly relevant to the learning needs of out-of-school and vulnerable children, while recommending further improvements in language simplification, disability-inclusive strategies, and gender-sensitive content.

Stakeholders also stressed the need for continuous training of facilitators and periodic review of the materials.

At the end of the technical sessions, the lesson plans and learning materials were officially approved and endorsed for implementation in Kano and Jigawa States by the Executive Chairman of Jigawa SUBEB, Prof. Engr. Haruna Musa, and the Executive Secretary of Kano State Agency for Mass Education, Dr. Binta Abubakar.

Stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening collaboration in promoting quality, inclusive, and equitable education for vulnerable children across both states.
