Government Secondary School Tahfizul Quran Dantamo in Malam Madori Local Government Area of Jigawa State has celebrated 55 students who completed the memorization of the Holy Qur’an.
The graduating students comprised 53 females and two males, according to the school’s Principal, Malam Umar Hashim.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony, Hashim said the school organises the event annually to honour students who complete the Qur’an memorization program.
He attributed the achievement to the commitment, dedication and hard work of the teaching staff, noting that the teachers remained focused on providing quality and productive education to the students.
The principal also commended individuals and indigenes of the community for their contributions to the development of the school.
He said the support had helped the institution provide essential infrastructure, including classrooms, a mosque, and other facilities.
Also speaking, the Executive Secretary of the Jigawa State Islamic Education Bureau, Dr Mubarak Abdulwahab Kafin Hausa, reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to supporting the school.
Kafin Hausa recalled a pledge made during the 2024 graduation ceremony that the government would construct a perimeter fence around the school to improve security.
He assured the school management that the government remained committed to fulfilling the pledge.
The Emir of Hadejia and Chairman of the Jigawa State Council of Chiefs, Dr. Adamu Abubakar Maje Haruna, presented prizes to some of the best-performing students.
The traditional ruler also offered prayers for the graduating students and urged them to remain focused and redouble their efforts towards building a brighter future.
In her remarks, the First Lady of Jigawa State, Hajiya Hadiza Umar Namadi, commended the students for their dedication to memorizing the Holy Qur’an.
Namadi also donated bundles of women’s wrappers to all the graduating female students, while other individuals presented cash donations to the graduates.
Earlier, representatives of the Commissioner for Basic Education and the Executive Secretary of the Islamic Education Bureau, Muhammad Adamu Haruna and Abba Muhammad, highlighted some of the achievements recorded by the state government in the education sector.
They listed the provision of free school uniforms, fencing of schools, and other interventions aimed at improving learning conditions across the state.
The ceremony brought together government officials, traditional rulers, education stakeholders, parents, community leaders and well-wishers, who joined the graduating students in celebrating the milestone.
