Kano Commissioner Visits UNESCO Headquarters to Strengthen Education Partnership

The Kano State Commissioner for Education, Ali Haruna Abubakar Makoda, has paid an official visit to UNESCO headquarters in Paris, where he was received by Hajjo Sani.

The visit forms part of the state government’s ongoing commitment to strengthening international collaboration in the development of the education sector and advancing sustainable educational opportunities for the people of Kano State.

During the engagement, discussions focused on deepening cooperation between Kano State and UNESCO in key areas including technical and vocational education and training (TVET), youth skills acquisition, educational innovation, and expanding access to quality basic education across the state.

Dr. Makoda emphasized the importance of strategic partnerships in addressing contemporary educational challenges and equipping young people with relevant skills for economic empowerment and national development.

He reiterated the commitment of the Kano State Government to improving learning outcomes and promoting inclusive, equitable, and quality education for all.

The commissioner added that the visit is expected to open new avenues for collaboration and technical support that will further enhance educational development efforts in Kano State.

In her remarks, the Permanent Delegate to UNESCO, Hajiya Hajjo Sani commended the Kano State Government for prioritizing education and expressed UNESCO’s readiness to support initiatives aimed at strengthening human capital development, especially in the areas of vocational training, digital learning, and capacity building.
