Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved the appointment of 19 new Permanent Secretaries and the redeployment of 14 serving Permanent Secretaries across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in a major reshuffle aimed at strengthening the state civil service.
The appointments, which take immediate effect, are part of the administration’s efforts to enhance efficiency, improve service delivery, and reposition the public service for better performance.
Among the newly appointed Permanent Secretaries are Muhammad Sani Suleiman (Policy and Administration, Government House), Bashir Yusuf Al-Awwal (Acting Permanent Secretary, Policy and Strategy Directorate, Government House), Bashir Ado Gaya (AGS, Deputy Governor’s Office), Dr. Sani Lawan Gwarzo (Special Duties Directorate, Deputy Governor’s Office), Abdulkadir Shehu (Ministry of Health), Umma Dallatu (Ministry of Planning and Budget), Muhammad Musbahu Yahuza (Ministry of Land and Physical Planning), and Rabi Ibrahim Waya (Ministry of Livestock Development).
Others include Hauwa Nuhu Wali (Ministry of Religious Affairs), Dr. Halima Ibrahim Mukhtar (Ministry of Investment and Commerce), Uwani Ahmad Balarabe (Ministry for Special Duties), Tsoho Aliyu Rogo (Ministry of Information), Engr. Dauda Garba (Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy), Idris Lawan Shanono (Ministry of Youth and Sports), Umma Abbas Sunusi (Ministry of Culture and Tourism), Aishatu Abdulkadir (Ministry of Women, Children and Disabled), Hannatu Ado Gwaram (SERVICOM Directorate), Nura Abba Dandago (Council of Emirs), and Rabi Inuwa Hussain (Kano Educational Resources Directorate).
Governor Yusuf also approved the redeployment of 14 serving Permanent Secretaries to strategic positions across the state civil service. The redeployments include Salisu Mustapha to the Cabinet Office/AGS Directorate, Abba Adamu Danguguwa to the Establishment Directorate in the Office of the Head of Civil Service, Binta Lawan Aliyu to the Ministry of Agriculture, Pharm. Aminu Bashir to the Ministry of Education, and Mustapha Nuruddeen Muhammad to the Ministry of Science and Technology.
Other affected officers include Bashir Sunusi, Tijjani Muhammad Sharif, Engr. Garba Adamu, Dr. Hadi Bala, Engr. Abdurrazak Haruna, Abdulmuminu Musa Aliyu, Usman Bashir Maikano, Musbahu Ahmed Badawi, and Ibrahim Garba Kabara, who were reassigned to various ministries and directorates.
Congratulating the newly appointed Permanent Secretaries, Governor Yusuf described their appointments as a call to greater responsibility and selfless service.
He urged both the newly appointed and redeployed officers to uphold diligence, professionalism, integrity, and accountability while working closely with their respective MDAs to advance the administration’s development agenda and improve public service delivery.
The governor expressed confidence in their ability to justify the trust reposed in them and directed that all handing-over and taking-over processes be concluded on or before Wednesday, August 12, 2026.
