Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, on Monday signed the Jigawa State Open Government Partnership (OGP) State Action Plan (SAP III 2026–2027), reaffirming his administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, citizen participation, and improved public service delivery.
The signing ceremony, held at the Government House in Dutse, marked the official launch of the state’s third OGP Action Plan for implementation.
Speaking shortly after signing the document, Governor Namadi commended the Deputy Governor, Alhaji Aminu Usman, who chairs the State OGP Steering Committee, alongside the State and Non-State Co-Chairs, members of the Steering Committee, the OGP Secretariat, civil society organisations, development partners, and other stakeholders for producing the document through an inclusive and participatory process.
He described the Action Plan as a reflection of his administration’s determination to strengthen open governance and build institutions that are responsive to the needs and aspirations of the people of Jigawa State.
“Today, by signing this document, we are reaffirming that open government is not merely a policy aspiration but a guiding principle of our administration,” the governor said.
Namadi directed all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) responsible for implementing the commitments contained in the Action Plan to accord it the highest priority and work collaboratively to ensure its successful execution.
He also called on civil society organisations, development partners, the private sector, traditional and religious leaders, women, youth, and persons with disabilities to remain active partners throughout the implementation process.
“The success of this Action Plan depends on our collective efforts,” he said.
The governor appreciated everyone who contributed to the development of the document and assured residents that his administration would continue to promote openness, accountability, innovation, and inclusive governance as pillars of sustainable development.
“It is now my pleasure to officially sign the Jigawa State Open Government Partnership State Action Plan III (2026–2027) for implementation,” he declared.
Earlier, Deputy Governor Aminu Usman said the Action Plan is evidence-based, realistic, and designed to deliver measurable outcomes for the people of Jigawa State.
He noted that the document was developed through an extensive co-creation process that brought together government institutions and non-state actors to jointly design a practical roadmap for strengthening governance in the state.
According to him, the Action Plan underwent rigorous consultations, technical reviews, and stakeholder validation before its presentation for approval.
Usman praised Governor Namadi for his consistent support for the Open Government Partnership, saying the administration’s commitment to inclusive governance has strengthened public confidence in government.
He also commended members of the State Steering Committee, Technical Working Groups, the OGP Secretariat, MDAs, civil society organisations, and development partners for their dedication throughout the process.
With the planning phase concluded, the Deputy Governor said the Steering Committee would now focus on effective implementation, institutional collaboration, progress monitoring, and ensuring that the Action Plan remains transparent, participatory, and results-oriented.
He formally presented the Jigawa State Open Government Partnership State Action Plan III (2026–2027) to the governor for official signing and launch.
