A former Governor of Kano State, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, will on Friday observe the Eid-el-Fitr prayer at Miller Road in Kano.

The development was disclosed by a former Commissioner for Science and Technology in the state, Dr Yusuf Mata, in a post on his verified Facebook account on Thursday.

According to him, the Eid prayer will be held at 8:00 a.m. at Miller Road, with Kwankwaso expected to join the congregation.

“Eid prayers will be held by 8:00 a.m. at Miller Road alongside our leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. May Allah accept our ibadat,” he wrote.

Kofar Mata also prayed for the acceptance of acts of worship during Ramadan and urged Muslims to remain steadfast in their devotion.

“We pray that Allah accepts our acts of worship and grants us peace and blessings,” he added.

The development comes amid growing political tension in Kano following the defection of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf from the New Nigeria People’s Party to the All Progressives Congress.

Kofar Mata is among the five commissioners who voluntarily resigned from Yusuf’s administration and reaffirmed their loyalty to the NNPP and the Kwankwasiyya Movement.

Yusuf, a long-time ally of Kwankwaso, rose through the ranks of the Kwankwasiyya Movement before the recent split, which has triggered political realignments among key actors in the state.
