The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described the judgment delivered on Friday by Justice Uche Agomoh of the Federal High Court, Ibadan, Oyo State, on the party’s 15 and 16 November 2025 National Convention as having no practical effect.

In a statement signed by its Chairman, Senator Adolphus Wabara, the BoT said the ruling was, at best, academic, noting that the core issues raised in the matter are already before the Court of Appeal.

The BoT expressed concern that while the court declined the order of mandamus sought by the party on the grounds that granting it would amount to sitting on appeal over judgments of courts of coordinate jurisdiction, it nevertheless went ahead to grant reliefs that were not sought by any of the parties.

According to the party’s highest advisory body, the PDP has since filed a notice of appeal alongside a motion for stay of execution, a development it said has effectively placed the Ibadan judgment in abeyance.

The BoT stressed that the appeal process has preserved the status quo, thereby keeping the Kabiru Tanimu Turaki-led National Working Committee (NWC), which was duly elected at the Ibadan Convention, legally and firmly in office.

Assuring party members and supporters nationwide, the BoT said there was no cause for alarm, reiterating that the Turaki-led NWC remains securely in place.

“The Board of Trustees, as the conscience and second-highest organ of the party, reaffirms its full commitment and support for the Turaki-led NWC in its efforts to stabilize and strengthen the PDP ahead of the 2027 general elections,” the statement added.
