Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has expressed strong displeasure and deep concern over the unruly and dangerous conduct of some youths who unlawfully gained access to the Kano State Government House during the ceremony marking his reception into the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Governor made his position known during a stakeholders’ meeting involving APC leaders and senior government officials, where he described the incident as disturbing, unacceptable, and capable of damaging Kano State’s long-standing reputation for peace, discipline, and order.

During the ceremony, hundreds of youths were sighted within the Kano State Government House premises.

Witnesses alleged that the youths, who were said to have accompanied Murtala Sule Garo to the Government House, were carrying dangerous weapons while others were openly abusing hard drugs chanted “Fire,” others were heard calling for the removal of the Deputy Governor in favour of Kwamanda.

Murtala Sule Garo, popularly known as Kwamanda, has been accused by members of the public of mobilising and arriving at political events with groups of youths alleged to be involved in violent and unlawful activities, a development that has continued to raise serious security concerns among residents.

At the stakeholders’ meeting, A Special Adviser to the Governor, Muhammad Jamu, reportedly raised the issue and described the situation as “dangerous and unacceptable,” warning that allowing armed youths to a political gathering or any govenment activities posed a serious threat to public safety and democratic order.

He stressed that such actions must not be tolerated under any circumstance.

Some political observers have also expressed concern that if Murtala Sule Garo is eventually picked as Deputy Governor, it would reinforce growing suspicions that Governor Yusuf and Senator Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso are politically playing games with the APC.

These concerns are further fueled by the fact that Garo is related by marriage to Senator Kwankwaso, with unconfirmed reports suggesting that the former Kano governor is working behind the scenes to secure the deputy governorship slot for him.

Governor Yusuf reiterated that his administration will not tolerate violence, intimidation, drug abuse, or political hooliganism in any form.

He called on party leaders, security agencies, traditional rulers, parents, and community stakeholders to collectively rein in unruly elements, while urging youths across Kano State to channel their energy into lawful and productive activities that promote peace, unity, and sustainable development.

It will be recalled that on Monday, Governor Yusuf, formally defected from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), an event that has continued to generate wide political reactions across the state and beyond
