At Pakistan’s World Culture Festival, theatrical groups from all over the world gathered to share tales from their own lands and to offer snippets of their cultures.

On Sunday, theatergoers in Karachi were treated to a double treat: two provocative plays from Kosovo and Rwanda.

“Generation 25,” a play featuring lessons from Rwanda’s 1994 genocide, was staged by Rwandan artists.

“What occurs in my nation can occur anywhere,” the play’s director, Hope Azeda, declared.

Kosovo-based artists presented “Waiting for a Train,” a song that explores the hardship of pursuing an unrealized ideal.

The filmmaker, Kushtrim Mehmeti, claimed that it is an experience that people from all around the world can relate to.

The filmmaker, Kushtrim Mehmeti, stated, “It’s for the people all over the world who are waiting for something, but they never catch their dreams.”

Both plays ended to thunderous ovation from the crowd, who was also treated to a number of amazing dance acts that evening.

“This response was really beautiful. “Everyone is so loving, so encouraging, and so interested,” actress Queen Joelle, who participated in the event, remarked.

250 artists from 40 nations, including South Africa, Azerbaijan, Nepal, Rwanda, and Pakistan, are participating in the month-long festival.
