Kano State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, alongside members of his team, visited Dorawar Sallau in Garun Malam Local Government Area to formally receive a newly constructed healthcare facility from the contractor.

Dr. Yusuf commended the contractor for the quality and standard of work delivered on the project.

He noted that the facility is among the Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) being constructed under the Primary Healthcare Development Agency, with support from the World Bank.

The Commissioner disclosed that Kano State has so far benefited from about 187 such healthcare facilities, with expectations that the number will continue to increase.

He further explained that the state plans to construct 484 Primary Healthcare Centres, ensuring that each ward across Kano State benefits from at least one modern facility.

According to him, the healthcare centres are designed to operate 24 hours daily, with the aim of bringing quality healthcare services closer to the people and reducing the burden of traveling long distances to access medical care.

The Commissioner formally received the facility on behalf of the Kano State Government from the representative of the construction company, Lot6Obet-Obet Nigeria Limited, Engr. Rabiu Shehu Yakubu.

Dr. Yusuf also revealed that arrangements are underway to invite His Excellency Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, to officially commission the facility in the near future.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Ward Development Committee (WDC) of the health facility, Malam Idris Hamisu, who is also a community leader in the area, expressed deep appreciation for the establishment of the hospital.

He stated that the facility will significantly ease access to healthcare services for residents of the community.

Malam Idris further assured that the committee will continue to sensitize the public especially pregnant women and encourage them to regularly visit the health facility for antenatal care and medical check-ups, to improve maternal and child health outcomes in the area.
