DR Congo edged Cameroon 1–0 in their semi-final clash at the Al-Barid Stadium in Rabat on Thursday, securing victory with a dramatic late winner.
Chancel Mbemba sealed the game in the 91st minute, firing past Andre Onana from a corner to break the deadlock in a tightly contested encounter.
The win moves DR Congo within touching distance of their first World Cup appearance since 1974, when the nation competed under the name Zaire.
Earlier in the day, Nigeria booked their place in the final with a dominant 4–1 win over Gabon in the first semi-final. Victor Osimhen scored twice, while Chidera Ejuke and Akor Adams added a goal each as the Super Eagles overran their opponents in extra time.
DR Congo and Nigeria will meet in Sunday’s final at the Moulay Hassan Stadium in Rabat. The winner will secure Africa’s sole slot in the intercontinental playoff.
