The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted three suspected couriers allegedly attempting to supply illicit drugs to terrorists and bandits in Borno and Yobe States.
A statement by the NDLEA Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, on Sunday, September 28, 2025, revealed that the arrests followed weeks of intelligence gathering and surveillance.
According to him, 26-year-old Baba Kaka Ibrahim was arrested on Saturday, September 27, at Njimtilo village while driving a Mercedes Benz GLK along the Damaturu road.
A search of the vehicle uncovered 39,380 pills of tramadol 225mg and exol-5 concealed in its engine compartment.
In a separate operation, operatives intercepted a female suspect, Halima Adamu, along the Damaturu–Maiduguri road in Yobe State.
She was found in possession of 39 parcels of Colorado (a synthetic strain of cannabis) weighing 1.4kg, hidden inside her travelling bag.
A swift follow-up led to the arrest of another woman, Habiba Muhammad, at Baga road in Maiduguri, who was linked to the seized consignment.
Babafemi said the suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue.
