Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Kano State Command, have arrested two suspected cable vandals and a tricycle theft suspect in separate operations across the state.

The command’s spokesperson, SC Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday that the suspects, identified as Adamu Ibrahim, 25, and Abba Ado, 24, both residents of Roba in Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area, were apprehended shortly after allegedly vandalising and stealing 300 metres of aluminium conductor cables belonging to Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO).

According to the statement, the incident occurred at Yunfawa village on April 28, 2026, at about 8:00 a.m., when the suspects allegedly climbed electric poles and removed the cables before attempting to cart them away.

“They were intercepted and arrested by security operatives and subsequently taken to the NSCDC office in the area,” the statement said.

The command added that during interrogation at the Corps headquarters in Kano, the suspects allegedly confessed to committing the offence and revealed that another accomplice remains at large.

In a related development, NSCDC personnel on routine patrol along the Kofar Waika/Kofar Dawanau dual carriageway arrested an 18-year-old suspected tricycle thief, identified as Abdullahi Aminu, a resident of Unguwar Dabai in Dala Local Government Area.

The suspect was alleged to have forcefully entered a parked tricycle with a female passenger inside while the rider briefly stepped away to deliver a dispatch on Wednesday, 6 May 2026.

The statement noted that the suspect drove off recklessly with the passenger onboard before patrol officers from the Dala Division responded to distress calls, rescued the victim and arrested the suspect.

The NSCDC said all three suspects remain in custody and would soon be prosecuted.
