The Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has imposed an indefinite suspension on former governor and serving senator representing Ogun East, Gbenga Daniel, over alleged anti-party activities.

The party also suspended Hon. Kunle Folarin for similar offences.

APC’s Director of Publicity in the state, Nuberu Olufemi, announced the decision in a statement on Tuesday night in Abeokuta.

He said the suspension was ratified by the State Working Committee (SWC) at a meeting chaired by the state chairman, Yemi Sanusi, with 16 members present on August 19.

According to the statement, disciplinary committees set up by the party executives in Ward 4 and Ward 6 of Sagamu Local Government Area had earlier suspended Daniel and Folarin after they allegedly ignored invitations to appear before the panels to respond to petitions of misconduct and anti-party activities.

Instead of honouring the summons, the party alleged, both men resorted to harassing members and pressuring them to withdraw the petitions.

“In exercise of its powers, the State Working Committee of the APC in Ogun State hereby affirms the suspension of Senator Gbenga Daniel and Hon. Kunle Folarin by their respective wards for alleged anti-party activities,” the statement read in part.

Olufemi explained that the committees deliberated on available evidence and testimonies before recommending indefinite suspension, which the SWC has now upheld.

He added that the action underscores the party’s resolve to uphold discipline, protect the integrity of its processes, and enforce compliance with its constitution.
