Manchester United are reportedly willing to sell striker Rasmus Højlund for around £30 million, as the club continues to pursue RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Šeško.
Højlund, who recently scored twice in a pre-season match against Bournemouth in Chicago, expressed his desire to stay at Old Trafford when speaking to journalists after the game.
Despite his public commitment, internal club dynamics suggest his future may be uncertain.
United are actively targeting Šeško, with Newcastle United also interested in the 22-year-old Slovenian.
While a deal has yet to be struck with Leipzig, reports suggest Šeško prefers a move to Manchester United.
Although club sources maintain that a move for Šeško could be completed without player sales, they acknowledge that outgoings may be necessary to comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
Should Šeško arrive, Højlund would likely be pushed down the pecking order. Selling him for £30 million would represent a financial loss for United, given that his current book value stands at £43 million — two years into the five-year contract he signed following his high-profile move.
This summer, United have already spent nearly £130 million on new signings, including Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, increasing the pressure to balance the books through player sales.
