The Jigawa State Open Government Partnership (OGP) SAP III two-day validation workshop commencedon Friday in Kaduna under the leadership of the Deputy Governor of Jigawa State and Chairman of the Jigawa State OGP Steering Committee, Engr Aminu Usman Gumel.

The workshop is convened to validate, review, and finalize the Jigawa State Open Government Partnership State Action Plan III (SAP III) for 2026–2027, with emphasis on strengthening transparency, accountability, citizen participation, and inclusive governance.

Jigawa State has an inspiring and evolving story of citizen engagement and open governance. Having been part of the OGP process for about eight years, the state has recorded significant milestones in promoting participatory governance and institutional accountability.

Among the notable achievements of the Jigawa OGP process is the establishment of the Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC), an important institutional mechanism for addressing citizens’ complaints, promoting accountability, and strengthening the fight against corruption.

The two-day workshop brings together relevant government institutions, civil society organizations, community representatives, and other stakeholders to deliberate on the proposed commitments and ensure that the SAP III reflects citizens’ priorities and strengthens the gains made under previous OGP action plans.

The workshop is being held at Bafra Hotel, Kaduna, and is expected to conclude with the validation and finalization of the State Action Plan III for implementation from 2026 to 2027.
