The Federal Government, in collaboration with the Jigawa state government, concluded arrangements to establish an Anti-riot (Mobile Police) barracks in Guri local government area of the state.
Abdulhamid Ahmed, the senator representing Jigawa’s Northeast Senatorial Districts, revealed this while speaking at the Jigawa State Government Citizen Engagement Program (Gwamnati da Jama’a) held in Guri town, the headquarters of the local government area.
Senator Abdulhamid stated that the project will include the construction of 20 blocks comprising offices, a Hostel, and other facilities required for effective unit operation.
He noted that he canvassed for establishing the barrack in Guri, being one of the most prone areas for perennial herders and farmers who lost many lives and properties in the last 30 years.
According to him, establishing the barracks and a special security unit will significantly help address the problem, as well as other security challenges in the area and the state at large.
Senator Malam Madori urged residents to remain law-abiding and report cases of farmland encroachment or disputes over grazing reserves and cattle routes to security agencies rather than taking the law into their own hands.
He also highlighted other projects he facilitated in the area through constituency initiatives, including the construction of water facilities, securing employment for over 40 youths, and the ongoing construction of the Guri Modern Stadium.
Senator Ahmed further called on the people to continue supporting and praying for President Bola Tinubu, Governor Malam Umar Namadi, and the APC administration, seeking Allah’s guidance and protection to enable them to deliver more projects for socio-economic development, peace, and progress in the nation.
