The Sokoto State Police Command, on Wednesday, welcomed participants of the Executive Intelligence Management Course 18 (EIMC 18) from the National Institute for Security Studies (NISS), Abuja, who arrived on a study tour to the state.

The high profile visit took place at the Command Headquarters in Sokoto and was marked by discussions centered on contemporary security challenges and the evolving role of non state actors in the African security architecture.

The delegation was led by Mr. Adeleke Kehinde, fsi, the designated Syndicate Supervisor, accompanied by other directing staff and participants of the EIMC 18.

Commissioner of Police, Sokoto State Command, CP Ali Hayatu Musa, delivered an insightful briefing to the visiting delegation, aligning his discourse with the theme of their academic engagement: “Non-State Actors in Security Management: Issues, Challenges, and Prospects for Peace and Development in Africa.”

CP Musa provided a comprehensive analysis of how non-state actors, including vigilante groups, community-based organizations, and insurgent networks, shape the security landscape in the region.

He also highlighted both the constructive and disruptive impacts of such actors, emphasizing the need for inclusive security frameworks that integrate civil society while upholding the rule of law.

“Security management in the 21st century demands a multi-stakeholder approach,” CP Musa asserted. “We must bridge the gap between state and non state actors to create sustainable peace across Africa.”

The Commissioner commended the NISS for organizing the tour, which he described as “a critical tool for experiential learning and intelligence networking.”

Speaking on behalf of the course participants, Mr. Uduank Uduank Ituen expressed profound appreciation to the Sokoto State Police Command for the warm hospitality extended to them.

“We are deeply grateful for the informative engagement and the open atmosphere for knowledge exchange. What we have learned here will contribute meaningfully to our strategic thinking and professional practice,” Ituen stated.

The visit, which was both educational and symbolic, fostered stronger collaboration between the NISS and the Nigeria Police Force, especially in enhancing mutual understanding of regional security dynamics.

It was rounded off with a ceremonial exchange of souvenirs between the visiting participants and the Command leadership, further cementing the cordiality of the engagement.

A group photograph was taken to commemorate the event, symbolizing the unity of purpose in building a more secure and peaceful Nigeria through shared knowledge and institutional cooperation.
