Troops of Sector 1, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have arrested six suspected terrorist logistics suppliers and intercepted a large consignment of materials believed to be destined for terrorist groups operating in the North-East.
The intelligence-led operation was carried out at about 4:00 p.m. on July 19, along a suspected terrorist supply route, where troops mounted a coordinated covert stop-and-search operation based on credible intelligence.
A statement issued on Monday by the Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, Capt. Mohammed Goni, said the suspects were travelling in five vehicles conveying materials suspected to be intended for terrorist elements.
Items recovered during the operation included 202 cartons of herbicides, one jerrycan containing a substance suspected to be acid, a Starlink wireless internet communication system, six bags of NPK fertilizer, 10 bags of rice, 50 hoes, and 20 packs of knapsack sprayer pumps.
According to the military, preliminary assessment indicates that the recovered items have potential dual-use applications capable of supporting terrorist logistics, mobility, communications and sustenance.
The statement added that the NPK fertilizer and the suspected acid would undergo technical and forensic examination to determine whether they were intended for the production of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).
“The seizure represents a significant disruption of suspected terrorist logistics networks and further degrades their ability to sustain operational activities,” the statement noted.
The six suspects and all recovered items have been handed over to the appropriate Military Intelligence Regiment for further investigation to identify the intended recipients, uncover the wider logistics network and apprehend other collaborators and sponsors.
Operation HADIN KAI also disclosed that preliminary debriefings of rescued hostages and surrendered families of terrorists indicate that sustained military operations targeting supply chains have severely weakened the operational capacity of terrorist groups.
According to the debriefings, persistent shortages of food, medical supplies, communication equipment and other essential logistics have forced many terrorists to abandon their hostages, families and hideouts while fleeing intensified military offensives.
The military reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling terrorist logistics and support networks through sustained intelligence-driven operations, stressing that terrorists, financiers, logistics suppliers, informants and collaborators would continue to be targeted.
It added that disrupting terrorist supply chains remains a critical objective in ongoing counter-terrorism operations, contributing to increased surrenders and the liberation of captives held by insurgents.
Operation HADIN KAI appealed to members of the public to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information on suspicious persons, movements and activities within their communities, describing public cooperation as essential to restoring lasting peace and security in the North-East.
