Northwest University Kano has expelled 34 students for their involvement in examination malpractice, reaffirming its commitment to maintaining academic integrity and discipline.

The decision was approved during the University Senate’s 66th statutory meeting held on Wednesday, 17 June, and Thursday, 18 June 2026, following recommendations from the Senate Committee on Examination Misconduct arising from the Second Semester 2024/2025 examinations.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Head of the university’s Public Relations Unit, Abubakar Ibrahim, on behalf of the Registrar, Dr. Isyaku Adamu.

According to the statement, the disciplinary action was taken in line with the university’s Examination Regulations as contained in the Students’ Handbook.

Besides the expulsions, the Senate also approved the rustication of 18 students for examination-related offences, while 22 others received warning letters for various violations of the examination rules.

The statement added that one student, Rukayya Ahmad Zukuri, was cleared of wrongdoing after a review of her case found no basis for disciplinary action.

The university reiterated its zero-tolerance policy on examination malpractice and urged students to strictly comply with examination regulations and uphold the values of honesty and academic excellence.
