Kebbi State Government has distributed five brand-new 2026 Toyota Prado SUVs to traditional rulers in the five chiefdoms under the Zuru Emirate as part of efforts to strengthen security and improve mobility in the area.

Governor Idris, represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Garba Dutsinmari, presented the vehicles to the beneficiaries on Tuesday at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi.

Dutsinmari said the gesture was in fulfilment of the governor’s promise to provide operational vehicles to traditional rulers to enable them to effectively discharge their responsibilities across their domains.

The beneficiaries are the chiefdoms of Fakai, Sakaba, Danko, Wasagu, and Dabai.

According to the Commissioner, the administration holds traditional rulers in high esteem and remains committed to supporting them in promoting good governance and stability in their communities.

He said the governor was aware of the security challenges confronting the areas, many of which are located in remote parts of the state, adding that the provision of the vehicles would ease movement and enhance peace efforts in the kingdoms.

Dutsinmari noted that the government was determined to strengthen security across the state through closer collaboration with traditional institutions, stressing that the administration would continue to provide logistics and other necessary support to improve safety in vulnerable communities.

“The governor is committed to improving security in all parts of the state.

“He believes traditional rulers are critical stakeholders in tackling criminal activities, and his administration will continue to work with security agencies and community leaders to protect lives and property,” he said.

He further quoted the governor as assuring the traditional rulers that every promise made by the administration would be fulfilled.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, the Chief of Wasagu, Alhaji Murtala Wasagu, expressed appreciation to the state government for fulfilling its promise to the traditional rulers.

He said the vehicles would bring the monarchs closer to their people and strengthen their ability to visit communities whenever necessary.
