The Kano State Consumer Protection Council (KCPC) has reaffirmed the need for continuous monitoring of companies, markets, supermarkets, and individual traders to ensure compliance with regulations governing the production and distribution of quality products to the people of the state.
The Executive Secretary of the Council, Dr. Ibrahim Garba Muhammad, stated this while continuing his inspection visits to companies and major business outlets across the state.
Dr. Garba made the remarks during visits to Alhamsad, Fortune Oil, and Gerawa Rice, explaining that the visits were aimed at strengthening collaboration with companies and introducing the newly appointed leadership of the Council, with a view to establishing stronger relationships and working together to protect the rights of consumers in Kano State.
The Executive Secretary urged companies to pay greater attention to monitoring the weight of their products, ensuring that the appropriate ingredients are used in production, and, above all, making sure that products are not expired or past their stipulated shelf life.
He emphasized that compliance with these standards is essential to protecting public health and improving the well-being of consumers.
Dr. Ibrahim Garba Muhammad commended the management of the companies for their understanding and commitment to maintaining the quality of the products they produce, noting that such cooperation would greatly support the Council in fulfilling its mandate.
In their separate remarks, the General Manager of Fortune Oil, Bashir Salisu Burji, the HR Alhamsad, Yusuf Bello Buba, and the representative of Gerawa Rice commended the efforts of the KCPC in protecting consumer rights.
They expressed their commitment to continuing to work closely with the Council and ensuring full compliance with all established standards and regulations to provide quality products that protect public health and contribute to the overall development of Kano State.
The company representatives also pledged to sustain their efforts toward producing quality products and to collaborate with the Council in promoting the welfare, safety, and protection of consumers
