Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, has approved and awarded the contract for the construction of the Yauri-Zamari Road and Yabo Road in Yauri town, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to expanding road infrastructure and improving connectivity across the state.

He disclosed this on Monday while speaking at the flag-off of a 1,500-beneficiary empowerment programme organised by the former Minister and APC candidate for the Yauri, Shanga and Ngaski Federal Constituency, Dr. Yusuf Tanko Sununu.

Governor Idris assured the people of Yauri Emirate that his administration would continue to execute projects with direct and lasting impact on the lives of the people, particularly in the areas of infrastructure, economic empowerment and social development.

He commended Dr. Tanko Sununu for initiating the empowerment programme, describing it as a commendable demonstration of concern for the wellbeing of constituents and vulnerable members of society.

The Governor urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the items and financial support provided to them, stressing that empowerment interventions should serve as a foundation for sustainable livelihoods and improved economic wellbeing.

He also called on other well-to do individuals and organisations to emulate the gesture by supporting vulnerable members of society and contributing to the development of their communities.

Speaking at the occasion, Dr. Yusuf Tanko Sununu thanked Governor Idris for his continued support for the people of Yauri Emirate and for approving development projects aimed at improving the lives of the people.

He explained that the empowerment programme was designed to support youths, farmers, women and other vulnerable members of the communities across Yauri, Shanga and Ngaski, with no fewer than 1,500 beneficiaries targeted.

The items and support being distributed include 80 water-pumping machines, three goats each to 120 beneficiaries, fish-farming kits for 20 beneficiaries, fertiliser to 100 farmers, and N50,000 cash grants to 1,000 beneficiaries.

Dr. Tanko Sununu said the intervention was intended to strengthen household livelihoods, support agricultural activities and create opportunities for beneficiaries to become economically self-reliant.
