Kano State Ministry of Education expresses happiness with successful organization of a refresher training for facilitators under the Accelerated Basic Education Programme (ABEP).

The training was organized by PLAN International, with support from the European Union.

PLAN International is a development and humanitarian organisation that works together with children, young people, supporters and partners to strive for a just world.

The refresher training was designed to address key challenges identified during the recent ABEP monitoring visits across the EU Project implementing Local Government Areas.

The project is currently being implemented in eight LGAs of Kano State, namely: Ajingi, Makoda, Minjibir, Kumbotso, Gwale, Nassarawa, Rimin Gado, and Tudun Wada by PLAN International and Save the Children International.

Speaking on behalf of the Ministry, the Director Development Partners Coordination, Dr. Lukman Tajo Siraj, who visited some of the training centres commended PLAN International for the timely intervention.

He emphasized that the training is critical to strengthening facilitators’ capacity and improving the quality of learning delivery under the ABEP initiative.

Dr. Siraj further highlighted the importance of ABEP in Kano State, noting that the state has one of the highest numbers of out-of-school children in Nigeria.

He reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to supporting all initiatives aimed at reducing the number of out-of-school children and ensuring inclusive and equitable access to basic education.

He saluted the Master Trainers for excellently facilitating the training and called on the trainees to pay the desired attention.

He expresses the Ministry’s appreciation to European Union for their continued partnership and support in advancing education in the state.

In his remarks, the Program Manager of PLAN International, Mr. David Okeh, stated that the refresher training was organized to address gaps identified during the last monitoring exercise.

He noted that enhancing facilitators’ skills remains essential to achieving the desired outcomes of the program.
