The Kano State branch of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) has strongly condemned the alleged exploitation of children by a man identified as Nagwale, operating around Zoo Road near Massallacin Murtala in Kano State.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Kano Branch of FIDA, the suspect was accused of using minors to hawk aphrodisiac products, exposing them to conditions described as exploitative, inappropriate, and harmful.

FIDA said video evidence circulating online shows the children engaged in the activity, raising serious concerns about their safety and well-being.

It noted that the alleged actions constitute clear violations of existing child protection laws, including provisions prohibiting child labour, street hawking by minors, and the exposure of children to indecent or sexually suggestive environments.

Describing the incident as unlawful and abusive, the FIDA warned that such practices pose a significant threat to the dignity, safety, and development of children.

FIDA called for the immediate investigation and arrest of the suspect, and swift prosecution if the allegations are confirmed.

It also urged the Kano State Police Command and the Kano State Ministry of Women Affairs, Children, and Persons with Special Needs to intervene urgently to address the situation and ensure justice is served.

FIDA emphasized that protecting children remains a fundamental responsibility of the state, stressing that all relevant authorities must act decisively to prevent exploitation and safeguard the rights of minors.
