The Federal Government (FG) has pledged full support for the 2026 edition of the “Let There Be Teachers” Conference, a national initiative aimed at mobilizing 200,000 teachers across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to drive systemic education reforms.

Boriowo Folasade, Director, Press and Public Relations, Federal Ministry of Education, in a statement on Monday, said the commitment was given by the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, during a courtesy visit by the Convener of the conference, Mr. Oluwaseyi Anifowose, to the Ministry.

Dr. Alausa described the initiative as a bold step toward elevating the teaching profession and reaffirmed the government’s dedication to improving teacher quality under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He stressed that no education system can rise above the quality of its teachers.

As part of ongoing reforms, the Minister disclosed that the Ministry has launched a zero-rated digital platform to support continuous professional development for teachers.

He also announced that, beginning in 2026, the Federal Government will assume responsibility for paying licence fees to the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) for public school teachers.

Organisers of the conference said the 2026 edition would build on the 2025 Guinness World Record milestone, shifting focus from symbolic achievement to measurable reform outcomes across the country.

The initiative is expected to bring together educators from across Nigeria in a coordinated effort to strengthen teaching standards and promote sustainable education reforms nationwide.
