President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Muslims across Nigeria on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Maulud celebration, urging them to reflect on and embrace the teachings and virtues of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the President said the celebration should go beyond commemorating the birth of the Holy Prophet to provide an opportunity for introspection, prayer and learning from his exemplary life.
Tinubu urged Muslim faithful to make a deliberate effort to uphold the teachings of Prophet Muhammad, particularly his values of devotion, perseverance, tolerance, humility, and selflessness.
“The Muslim faithful should make deliberate effort to adhere to the teachings of Prophet Muhammad. There are great lessons of devotion, perseverance, tolerance, humility and selflessness that we can all learn from the life of the Prophet,” he said.
The President also called on Islamic scholars and religious leaders to use the occasion to pray for the country and encourage their followers to demonstrate the values of the Prophet through their commitment to Nigeria.
He urged Muslims celebrating the festival to extend kindness and support to the poor, needy and vulnerable, in keeping with the spirit of the occasion.
Tinubu further called for prayers for an end to insecurity and other challenges affecting communities across the country, urging Nigerians to remain united and committed to peace and national development.
