The Delta State Police Command said the operatives of the Commissioner’s Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) single-handedly recovered a total of 60 assorted arms and 560 rounds of ammunition and cartridges in one year.
The Command spokesman, SP Edafe Bright, disclosed in a statement made available to newsmen on Friday.
He listed the arms recovered by the operatives in the period under review as 24 AK-47 rifles, four K2/G3 rifles, and 32 pump-action guns.
He also added that the operatives recovered 15 stolen vehicles.
SP Bright said the commissioner gave the figure while presenting commendation certificates to 16 officers of the command in recognition of their unwavering dedication, exceptional performance, and outstanding services in the discharge of their duties.
He said the commissioner noted that the commitment shown by the officers is worthy of emulation and is deserving of the commendation given to them.
Among the officers of the Commissioner Special Team rewarded by the Commissioner are
ASP Julius Robinson, Inspector Joel Osunniran, Inspector Ofumana Samson, Inspector Paul Mamman, Corporal Layefa God’sgrace, W/PC Isanmi Naomi among others.
He said the top of the awardees was ASP Julius Robinson who is the Commander, CP-Special Assignment Team of Delta State Command.
He said the ASP Julius Robinson and his team were posted and deployed to Ughelli in the month of April 2024 by the Commissioner of Police Delta state with a mandate to bring to a halt the activities of kidnappers and armed robbers in Ughellli, Warri, Sapele, Oghara and other parts of the state.
“Upon that deployment, the Commissioner of Police stated that the team led by ASP Julius Robinson has so far brought calm to these areas and the entire state in general.
“The commissioner of Police noted that the commitment shown by these officers is worthy of emulation and are deserving of the commendation given to them”, he added.
Speaking on behalf of the awardees, ASP Robinson Julius thanked the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun for providing all that is necessary to combat crime in the State.
ASP Julius also appreciated the Commissioner of Police, Olufemi Abaniwonda, Area commanders, DPOs, and other officers for creating a conducive working environment for them to thrive.
He, however, assured the authorities of the Force that they would not relent because they are fully aware that “the reward for hard work is more work.
