Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Abuja, has ordered the final forfeiture of assets worth over N1.9 billion linked to former Acting Accountant-General of the Federation, Chukwunyere Anamekwe Nwabuoku, to the Federal Government.
The forfeited assets include shares valued at N1.94 billion, N288.5 million in cash, and a five-bedroom duplex located at No. 20 City Gate Estate, Kukwaba, Abuja.
The ruling was delivered on Wednesday following an application filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) after Nwabuoku’s conviction on 23 March 2026.
The former acting AGF was convicted and sentenced on a nine-count charge bordering on money laundering and abuse of office.
In a Motion on Notice dated 1 April 2026, the EFCC sought an order of the court for the confiscation and forfeiture of the assets listed in three schedules attached to the application.
The first schedule contained funds traced to accounts linked to companies including Temeeo Synergy Concept Limited, Turge Global Investment Limited, Laptev Bridge Limited, and Arrafura Transnational Afro Ltd.
Also included was N220 million, refunded by the convict, into the EFCC Recovery Account, domiciled with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
The total amount under the schedule stood at N288,590,749.
The second schedule comprised a five-bedroom duplex situated at No. 20 City Gate Estate, Kukwaba, Abuja.
The third schedule contained stocks acquired by the convict in several security companies, valued at N1,941,805,342 as of March 29, 2026.
Delivering the ruling, Justice Omotosho held that the court was satisfied that the funds and property were proceeds of unlawful activities, relying on the judgment earlier delivered against the convict on 23 March 2026.
The judge consequently ordered that all the listed assets be finally forfeited to the Federal Government of Nigeria.
