A coalition of concerned citizens under the aegis of Sustainable Community Development Initiatives, alongside stakeholders from Gwangwan Dakewaye in Rogo Local Government Area of Kano State, has commended the Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Jibril Ismail Falgore, for what they described as responsive and people-oriented leadership.

Stallion Time report that the collapsed Gwaggwan has been causing untold hardship to community members.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by Comrade Sani Shuaibu Rogo, the group praised the lawmaker representing Rogo Constituency for his prompt intervention in addressing the challenges facing residents of Gwangwan Dakewaye, particularly following the collapse of a critical bridge in the area.

The group noted that Falgore’s leadership style has brought a new dimension of responsiveness rarely witnessed in the constituency’s history, adding that his swift reaction to the community’s plight has helped restore hope among residents, especially as the rainy season approaches.

They also highlighted the role of the community in attracting government attention, describing the people of Gwangwan Dakewaye as proactive and united in their pursuit of sustainable development.

According to the statement, the community’s organised engagement with relevant stakeholders was instrumental in prompting the Speaker’s visit to the affected area, where he reportedly assured residents of immediate government intervention.

The stakeholders further underscored the economic significance of the collapsed Gwangwan Bridge, noting that it serves as a vital link between Rogo and the bustling Sundu Market.

The disruption, they said, has adversely affected trade, agriculture, and livelihoods not only within Kano State but also across neighbouring states such as Katsina and Kaduna, as well as parts of West Africa.

The statement described the development as a test of the social contract between leaders and the people, adding that the collaboration between the community and its elected representative reflects a growing demand for accountability and tangible results from public office holders.

While expressing appreciation to the Speaker for his commitment, the group called on other communities across Kano State to adopt similar grassroots-driven approaches to development.

They stressed the need for citizens to actively engage in socio-economic, cultural, and political initiatives to ensure sustainable growth.

The group also offered prayers for continued guidance and strength for the Speaker in the discharge of his duties, urging leaders at all levels to prioritise service delivery over political promises.
