The Kwankwasiyya-Shekarau Unity Forum on Monday declared its total support for the Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, and changed its name to ‘Abba Gida-Gida – Shekarau Unity Forum’ ahead of the 2027 General elections.
The Forum made the declaration during a solidarity visit by its members to the Honourable Commissioner of Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, in his office.
Speaking during the visit, the Chairman of the Forum, Alhaji Ahmed Saminu (DOC), disclosed that the Forum was formed following the merger of APC and PDP structures in 2023 to ensure the victory of the party.
He explained: “Even when our leader, Mal. Ibrahim Shekarau, left the party, we remained in Kwankwasiyya. Unfortunately, our members were denied the privilege to enjoy the benefits of the sacrifice they made for the success of the movement.
Untill now that, the Honourable Commissioner of Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, has brought us closer to the Government and made us relevant. That is why we are here today to declare our total support for Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf and to change the name of our Forum to “Abba Gida-Gida – Shekarau Unity Forum.”
Alhaji Ahmed Saminu stated that the Forum believes Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf deserves total support to continue with the remarkable achievements he has recorded since assuming office, which have made the state more attractive and conducive for living.
He commended Governor Abba Kabir, for the successes recorded so far in the areas of education, health, security, youth and women empowerment, road construction, and provision of infrastructure, among others.He further noted that these achievements inspired them to declare their loyalty to the Governor through the Commissioner, who has continued to motivate people on the good policies of this administration.
Responding, the Honourable Commissioner of Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, thanked the members of the group for being active politicians with a clear vision in choosing what is right for the state.
Comrade Waiya said their decision to support Abba Kabir Yusuf for a second term demonstrates their concern for the development of Kano State.
He described the Governor as a leader who knows what is right and is always ready to ensure that the people of Kano enjoy the dividends of democracy.
“All that the enemies of the state are saying about the Governor will never distract him from his determination to provide the good leadership needed in Kano,” Waiya stated.
He assured the Forum of the administration’s commitment to work closely with them to ensure victory in the 2027 general elections.
In a related development, the Commissioner also received members of the Trusted Youth Awareness for Abubakar Kabir Abubakar Bichi, who paid him a courtesy visit in his office.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the Chairman, Farouk Muhammad Dangora, said they were at the Commissioner’s office to register their support for Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He noted with appreciation the Governor’s effort in settling the entitlements of former councillors who had been in a deplorable condition due to economic hardship.
Farouk also applauded the administration’s giant strides in many sectors of human development, which he said qualify the Governor for a second term.
He further thanked the Commissioner for the role he played in ensuring that the ex-councillors received their entitlements.
“In this regard, we request the Commissioner to serve as Grand Patron of our Forum and also seek collaboration with the Ministry in publicizing the good work of this administration,” he said.
Responding, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya said he was happy to meet with the members of the association.
He described Abubakar Kabir Abubakar Bichi as a trusted person who has Kano at heart and has been working with Governor Yusuf to bring development projects to the state.
He said the people of the state are proud of what Abba Bichi has done in his constituency and across the state, and assured that the Ministry’s doors would continue to remain open for collaboration to ensure the success of the APC in 2027.
