The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has officially launched the nationwide advocacy and sensitization campaign of the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), with activities set to commence across all State Commands of the Nigeria Police Force.

The initiative is part of the Force’s commitment to proactive policing, community engagement, and sustained efforts to combat cultism and other social vices through grassroots awareness, early intervention, and strategic collaboration with key stakeholders.

A statement issued on Sunday by the Force spokesperson, CSP Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu, said as the flagship community policing initiative of the Nigeria Police Force, POCACOV seeks to discourage young people from engaging in cultism, drug abuse, violent crime, and other criminal activities by promoting positive values and responsible citizenship.

According to the statement, the campaign will also strengthen partnerships between the police, schools, communities, religious organizations, traditional institutions, civil society groups, and other stakeholders to address the root causes of youth involvement in crime.

The Nigeria Police Force reaffirmed its commitment to preventive policing strategies to enhance public safety, protect young people from criminal influences, and build safer and more secure communities across the country.
