The Director-General of the Kano State Information and Communication Technologies Development Agency (KASITDA), Dr. Bashir Abdu Muzakkari, paid a strategic working visit to the Kano State Ministry of Health as part of ongoing engagements aimed at accelerating the digitalization of critical sectors across the state.

The visit forms part of the implementation of the Kano State Digital Transformation Agenda 2025–2030, a flagship initiative of the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, designed to modernize public service delivery through innovative technology and digital infrastructure.

During the meeting, Dr. Muzakkari emphasized the importance of leveraging digital technologies to improve healthcare administration, enhance data management, strengthen institutional efficiency, and support evidence-based decision-making to achieve better health outcomes for the people of Kano State.

He noted that the engagement with the Ministry of Health represents another significant milestone toward realizing Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s vision of building a digitally enabled government that is efficient, transparent, and responsive to citizens’ needs.

Dr. Muzakkari also highlighted KASITDA’s recent achievement in securing a N7 billion investment to support the digitization of three strategic sectors in Kano State: the Kano State Ministry of Health, the Kano State Urban Planning and Development Authority (KNUPDA), and the Kano State Judiciary.

According to him, the investment will provide cutting-edge digital solutions, strengthen institutional capacity, and establish robust information management systems that will significantly improve governance and service delivery across the selected sectors.

Present during the visit were the Executive Secretary of the Kano State Primary Healthcare Management Agency, Professor Salisu Muhammad; the Executive Secretary of the Hospitals Management Board, Dr. Mansur Nagoda; the Executive Secretary of the Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency, Dr. Rahila Mukhtar; alongside directors and senior management staff of KASITDA and officials of the Ministry of Health.

Officials of the Ministry commended KASITDA for its commitment to driving innovation and digital transformation in the public sector and expressed readiness to collaborate closely with the agency to ensure the successful implementation of the digital health transformation initiative.

The sectoral engagements are part of KASITDA’s broader mandate to coordinate and implement the digital transformation agenda of the Kano State Government, positioning Kano as a leading hub for digital governance and innovation in Nigeria.
