The Kano State Government has dismissed reports circulating across some media platforms and social media alleging that the 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, will lead the forthcoming Sallah Durbar.
In a statement issued on Monday by the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Hon. Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, the government described the claim as unfounded, stressing that no official decision has been taken on the matter.
It further noted that issues surrounding the Kano Emirate are currently before a court of law, urging the public to allow due legal process without interference or actions that could create confusion.
The government maintained that it remains neutral and has distanced itself from all parties involved in the ongoing emirate dispute, pending a final judgment that is legally binding.
It also called on residents to remain law-abiding, avoid spreading unverified information, and rely only on credible and official sources for updates.
Additionally, media organizations and social media users were advised to verify the authenticity of any information before dissemination, particularly as the Sallah celebrations approach, to prevent misinformation and potential unrest.
The government reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining peace, unity, and stability across Kano State.
